Our Mission

To train and equip Deaf leaders to reach their communities for Christ through service, evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.

Our Vision

It is the vision of DeafBridge to see Deaf communities transformed by Christ and empowered to serve as partners in the Great Commission. This vision drives the four ministry priorities of DeafBridge: Service, Evangelism, Discipleship and Church Planting.

Serving Jesus by serving others  through both practical and professional ministry and by being willing and able to help others with physical acts of compassion as a first step towards evangelism. (Matthew 10:42-45; Matthew 25:40; Mark 5:16).

Sharing God’s perfect love with others and letting that love be expressed in our behavior in order to bring the life-changing message of the Gospel to the Deaf  in ways they can fully understand and in their heart language, sign language. (John 3:16) Planned outreach, personal one-on-one sharing, and Deaf summer camps are some ways we support evangelism in the Deaf communities we serve.

Helping others understand what it means to follow Jesus, study God’s Word, and be the church through one-on-one mentoring, small group teaching, and doing life together. Working with a network of regional pastors, we support the work of the local believing communities to make disciples. Training and equipping Deaf Believers to become missionaries to reach their own communities, countries, and beyond for Christ. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Timothy 2:2).

Church Planting

Establishing transformative, reproducing Deaf-lead churches in least-reached areas of the world. Our current work is mostly among Deaf communities in the Middle East, former Soviet countries, and Eastern Europe. (Acts 2:41-47; Titus 1:5). Providing ongoing leadership training and financial support to Deaf national missionaries, thus allowing them to  share the Gospel and grow the Church among people who normally have no opportunity to know about God whether through covert operations or house churches or traditional gatherings. (Acts 20:28). We work with our partners to provide intensive regional center based training for discipleship and church-planting. We then continue to provide regular mentoring, pastoral care, and accountability  through regular video conferencing and in partnership with our network of regional pastors.

Through these ministry priorities, DeafBridge is able to impact Deaf communities around the world as we empower Deaf Leaders planting Deaf Churches!

Who We Are

Chris McKenzie

President & Founder

Chris McKenzie was licensed and ordained as a minister in 2006 and attended SouthWestern Baptist Theological Seminary from 2008 to 2010 majoring in International Church Planting. He has served in Deaf ministry through local churches, as a church planter in Texas with the local convention, and with the Deaf Prison Ministry Network. He entered the mission field in 2011 serving as a church planter in India and Ukraine. In 2016 Chris joined Deaf Bible Society first as the Field Coordinator for Eurasia and then as the Director of Translation Acceleration.

Wanting to get back to his passion for the vital, hands-on ministry of church planting, Chris left the work of Bible translation and started the discipleship and church planting ministry of DeafBridge. Chris’s strong passion for teaching others to follow Christ, unwavering commitment to discipleship, and rich experience as a church planter drive him to carry out the vision of DeafBridge and empower Deaf leaders to plant Deaf churches.
